Volunteers and organizers gather near the bridge in Gilead, Maine as they await the arrival of the stocking truck. While they wait, the boat owners and helpers organize their gear in preparation of transporting fish downriver. While we wait for the stock truck, let's catch some of last year's brown trout. Finally, the tank truck arrives. To get the fish from the truck to the contraptions being used to transport the fish, volunteers form a bucket brigade. At the end of the brigade, a bucket full of fish is dumped into a homespun rig that will hold the fish. An innertube, netting and some PVC piping. This bucketful of brown trout will soon find a new home further downstream. This boat of volunteers has two tubes filled with brown trout and they will begin a journey downstream, stopping at likely "fishing holes" to release. It was a popular occassion as Bill Green of "Bill Green's Maine" was on hand. Bill Green travels with a group downstream to release brown trout. He gets a story while cameraman gets photos. During phase two of the float-stocking, rainbow trout were released. Here is a net full of rainbows. It's not just the two-legged fishermen who think this river stocking event is cool. Here a predator stealthfully awaits an unsespecting meal. Volunteer and guide, Fly-Rod Jackie, shows off one of the rainbow she will set free. The Upper Andro is more than just fishing but who can resist a glance at this spring-time view looking west?
